Sportzball: Season 1

Stop it. The Dodgers are not the Warriors of Baseball.

The 2017 Los Angeles Dodgers are a good baseball team. They are 77-32 through 109 games

The 2017 Golden State Warriors team was very good. They went 67-15, and then went 16-1 in the playoffs and won the NBA title.

I understand that the Dodgers are very, very good...BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE STOP CALLING THEM THE WARRIORS OF BASEBALL.

There are lots of reasons to back up the statement that the Dodgers are not the Warriors of baseball, most noticeably their lack of World Series Championships. The Los Angeles Dodgers have not won a World Series since 1988, and that was also the last time they even went to the World Series, whereas the Warriors have been to three straight NBA finals and have won two of them. The Dodger’s lack of accomplishments in the postseason alone should be enough to disqualify the team from this comparison by itself.

One similarity to the two teams is that they both have a lot of homegrown talent. The Warriors drafted Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, who are all some of the best players in the NBA. The Dodgers drafted Clayton Kershaw, Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, and Joc Pederson. Their core is full of players who they drafted, but other than that, their team is full of players that were traded for and players who had massive bags of money thrown at them. This is another thing that separates them from the Warriors, because the warriors team is primarily homegrown talent, and veterans who are willing to take a discount to compete for a championship. The Dodger’s have the highest payroll in baseball at 238 million dollars, and they have the highest payroll because every July they make massive trades at the deadline, which help the team, but increase the payroll more and more each year. The Warriors currently have the second highest payroll in basketball, but that is primarily because the team just rewarded Stephen Curry for all he has done for the franchise with a 201 million dollar deal.

Also, the Warriors play in the Bay Area, which is also home to the San Francisco Giants, a team that has won 3 Championships since 2010. No, I am not saying that the Giants are the Warriors of baseball either, because this year they are a complete dumpster fire and have the worst record in all of baseball. However, what I am saying is that even though the Dodgers are good, they can’t be compared to the greatest basketball team of all time.

Please, I implore you, stop comparing the Dodgers to the Warriors.
